Why Fall Is a Smart Time to Clean Your Windows in New England

October is a good month to take a close look at your windows. Summer is over, the screens have done their job, and the sun sits lower in the sky. Low light shows every streak and spot on the glass, and you are about to spend a whole winter looking through it.

Two cleanings a year is what most homes need

For most homes, two cleanings a year does the job: one in the spring and one in the fall. The spring visit clears what the winter left behind. The fall visit clears what the summer left: dust, pollen, rain spots, and whatever came off the trees.

Some houses need it more often. A house near trees, a busy road, or salt air usually needs more than two visits, so a home close to the coast or along a main road may be due sooner than the calendar says. We can take a look at yours and tell you how often your house needs it.

Grime left on the glass too long can stain it

Dirty glass is not only a looks problem. When windows go a long stretch without a cleaning, pollutants and chemicals from the air build up on the glass. Over time those contaminants bond with the glass itself and leave stain damage, and that damage is expensive to repair.

A fall cleaning takes the summer's buildup off before it sits there through the cold months. Clearing it now is a lot easier than dealing with stains later.

Screens, tracks, and storm windows belong in the fall job

Fall is when most people close up the house for the cold, and it is the right time to get the parts of the window nobody looks at. Screens hold dust all summer. Tracks and sills fill with dirt and grit. Storm windows sit on the outside of the house and take the weather first.

Our window cleaning covers all of it: screen cleaning, track cleaning, storm window cleaning, and sill and ledge cleaning, along with skylights and glass doors.

We clean inside and out and leave each room as we found it

We clean the glass inside and out, and wiping down the sills and frames is part of the same visit. Indoors, we lay protection down first, and every room is left the way we found it.

On the glass, we use a swirl motion on each window that prevents lines and streaks. The point is simple. When the job is done, you should be able to look out and see the yard, not the glass.

Storefronts and offices need a fall cleaning too

Your customers see your business through its windows and glass doors. Regular professional window cleaning is part of protecting a commercial property, and it keeps a storefront, a restaurant, or an office looking clean and welcoming as the season changes.

We handle commercial window cleaning and glass door cleaning through our commercial services.
